Dead Horse Point State Park

The view from Dead Horse Point State Park is spectacular. You could pretty much set your camera up anywhere and get a great shot. When we visited last December, though, I spent one morning walking back and forth (very carefully) along the rim looking for something interesting to include in the foreground. There were some juniper trees with lots of character and some patches of snow but the composition that I liked the most, this composition, included neither. What I find interesting about this photo is that the only reason the foreground is interesting is because of what the clouds looked like at the time. It was as if the clouds were imitating the rock I was standing on. If you have ever spent any time looking at clouds, you probably know that they are pretty good at imitations...if you have the imagination to see them.
